My second tournament set of the year and a bit of a gap since my last one in January; this time taking on NGI Events anime fighting tournament, Sakura Fight Festa. I entered both BlazBlue: Centralfiction 2.0 and Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st], the latter of which I switched mains on only a few days ago, but I’m much more comfortable with Gordeau and his abilities than I was with Carmine so it was a logical switch. Right, but let’s get down to this already.
Here’s how I did:
Under Night In-Birth EXE:Late[st]
Main: Gordeau
1 | LOSS, 2-0 (vs. Nanase)
2 | LOSS, 2-1 (vs. Eltnum)
BlazBlue: Centralfiction
Main: Jubei
1 | LOSS, 2-0 (vs. Carl)
2 | LOSS, 2-0 (vs. Makoto)
OUT
In summary, this was my worst performance in quite a while. The last minute switching of main in UNIST didn’t help, but the truth is that I just was not good enough to topple the fantastic players at the event today. I can see pretty much everywhere I went wrong though, and can definitely improve on those shortcomings with practice for sure, such as watching out for errant overhead blows. Most importantly, I need to play more matches with others as training mode has helped me on execution but just simply is not enough for any major improvement overall. More lobbies and online matches for me then as I really want to prove myself at Revolution.
Thank you to both NGI Events for running the BBCF and UNIST tournaments and to PQube for supplying the UNIST set up for that tournament to be run on. You guys are the best, thank you for all you do for the UK anime fighting community and see you all at Revolution 2018 (if not before then).
See you at the next tournament. RTG.
