As I’ve been covering fairly extensively in recent times, PQube is bringing the upcoming cross-over anime fighting game, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle to Europe. As previously discussed the game will release with a base roster of twenty fighters, with a further twenty releasing as DLC packs of three (excluding the second two RWBY characters, whom will release separately). This past Thursday, on the Arc System Works “ArcNama” stream, they revealed DLC character pack #3 for the game.
The characters announced in pack #3 are Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4 Arena, Vatista from Under Night In-Birth, and Hakumen representing BlazBlue. There were no details on release date of character pack #3 (similar to #2) but I have placed the video at the end of this article, in case you wanted to see the upcoming three in action in the BBTAG framework. Also, I’ve placed below the fun charts that Arc System Works release after each reveal giving sensible stats, ludicrously unhelpful stats (like a kawaii rating), and the characters that make the best matches for these new combatants.

Also revealed on the stream were the details of the open beta coming to Japan in the near future (although there is no confirmation on this coming to the West at present). If you pre-order the game on the Playstation Store, you will be granted early access to the beta on 9th May, earlier than the full open beta on 12th May. Nintendo Switch players can get in on the beta too, from, 11th May. This beta test runs until the 14th May for all players.
Furthermore, during this test all 20 base roster characters will be playable, along with an offline VS Mode, Tactics Mode for practicing, and an online Casual Lobby. The beta will still be active after the testing period ends, but more as an extended demo. Pre-orders from PSN will grant players access to continued play with all 20 characters while everyone else will have their roster reduced to the core four of Ragna, Hyde, Yu, and Ruby.
Finally, during the stream we got to see the first gameplay of the final member of team RWBY, Yang Xiao Long. Although only a snippet of gameplay was shown, we got to see how the Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets work, giving her both ground and air projectiles, also how her brawling style can allow for follow-ups from various specials into other specials for higher damage potential. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to seeing more from her and her mixed style of play.
So that’s all that came out of the ArcNama stream? What do you think? Do you like Character Pack #3, or are there other characters you would prefer? Also, how did you find the initial gameplay of Yang? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter (@reuthegamer) and I’ll see you next time.
