If you’re anything like me, you’ve been keeping an eye on Numskull Games since they revealed themselves to the world a short time ago. With their focus on high quality merchandise, I’ve been looking forward to seeing how their game publishing ventures turn out, and I’m definitely not disappointed.
In a wonderful surprise, the company announced that it is partnering with legendary developer and publisher Spike Chunsoft to bring two exciting titles from their 2019 lineup to Europe and Australia, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES and CRYSTAR, with more titles promised for the future.

Martin Defries of Numskull Games had this to say about the venture:
“It is an honour to announce Spike Chunsoft as a partner of Numskull Games. We have a deep understanding and appreciation of the games that Spike Chunsoft deliver to their many fans and are looking forward to revealing their exciting lineup of future releases across Nintendo Switch™ and PlayStation®4,”

AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, from the mind of Kotaro Uchikoshi (Zero Escape series), with character design by Yusuke Kozaki (NO MORE HEROES, Fire Emblem series), is a thrilling neo-noir adventure set in a near-future Tokyo. You play as Special Agent Kaname Date on the case of a mysterious serial killer, investigating crime scenes as well as dreams on the hunt for clues.

CRYSTAR is an Action-RPG developed by FURYU Corporation. Rei fights her way through the afterworld of Purgatory to rescue Mirai, the little sister that she killed. To resurrect her, Rei makes a deal with Demons to combat Revenants and Specters—the tormented Souls of the dead. CRYSTAR’s unique game mechanics allow the player to harness the power of grief. Use Rei’s tears to craft weapons and armor as well as summon a Guardian to protect her in battle. Rei’s weeping gives her the strength to fight as she searches for her sister’s lost Soul.

I’m personally pretty excited about these. AI sounds like an interesting premise, has a pair of great names attached to it, and I simply love a good mystery. CRYSTAR is a title that I have played before, in a small demo, and found to be very enjoyable. But what do you think? Would you pick up either of these? Let me know in the comments, or on Twitter.
AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES will be released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, both digitally and physically, on September 20th this year in Europe.
CRYSTAR will launch for PlayStation 4, both digitally and physically, on August 30, 2019 in Europe.
