The story of Granblue Fantasy is quite utterly delightful nonsense. Taking place inside the popular universe of the Granblue franchise, it follows Gran and the other passengers of the Grandcypher – including the scintillating navigator Rackam – as they attempt to investigate the mystery of how the sinister Erste Empire has somehow returned to full power following their prior defeat.

As I’ve reported previously, the wonderful guys at PQube are publishing the upcoming anime fighting crossover game, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle in Europe. In case it hasn’t come across before now, my excitement about this project has only escalated since the announcement of it last year, and I had the huge privilege of playing it at Sakura Fight Festa last weekend. Before I talk about it, it should be stressed that this was the Playstation 4 English language build that’s recently surfaced so not all of what I’m about to say might translate into the final version of the game, or what changes will be applied to the Switch version. This being said, and although I only played a few games, I’ve got a decent idea of how the game works and plays, so how is it?

Occasionally, the Switch has seen some odd releases, either of unusual indies emerging out of an increasingly experimental indie scene or of ports of the more strange games from other platforms. Speaking of which, Eat Beat: Dead Spike-san is a rhythm action game based on the BlazBlue franchise of anime fighting games. Released originally in 2015 for iOS and Android devices by Arc System Works, this absurd spin-off of an already arguably absurd franchise has now come to Nintendo Switch eShop. But how is it?

I’ve been waiting and watching this project develop over the last couple of months and I’ve been hoping for a confirmation that it was coming to the EU region so I could realistically cover it here. As of yesterday, PQube have announced that they will be bringing Arc System Work’s next anime fighting game, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle to Europe this Summer.
Another tournament, one that is likely my last one of the year. Yesterday I fought in Revolution that took place in London, an anime fighter tournament with some of the best players in Europe in attendance. I entered the Under Night In-Bight EXE: Late(st) and BlazBlue: Centralfiction tournaments, as well as playing casuals in various other games.
As a new thing I’ve decided to do on here, I’m now going to post updates from any tournaments I enter, as I’m trying to take fighting games (or at least certain ones of them) a little more seriously.
