A couple of weeks ago, during the Pokémon Presents broadcast, we were shown the timely return of Pokémon Snap for us to flaunt our amateur photography skills prompting much fanfare. But, I was much more intrigued by another little project, a little app designed to help children brush their teeth properly and continued proof that any random word can follow the word “Pokémon”.
I was there at the beginning. I got my copy of Pokémon Blue back in 1999 and, as I didn’t have a GameBoy yet, my friend let me borrow his Super GameBoy peripheral for the SNES so I could play this new game that everyone was so excited about. I have a lot of love for these early days of the series. So, after a lot of agonising, I wanted to talk about my ten favourite Kanto Pokémon.
I’ve been with the Pokémon series since the very beginning. As such, Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! is not my first time running amok through Kanto, but I simply wasn’t going to resist another jaunt with an adorable little Eevee in tow much like the Pikachu I had back in Pokémon Yellow Version.

The Pokémon series is undeniably a worldwide smash hit by this point with millions of units shifted across the various generations of mainline titles, and that’s not even including the various spin-offs and the avalanche of merchandise for the series. One such spin-off is this little curio here, Detective Pikachu. Beginning development in 2013 and being released only in Japan as Great Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo in 2016. This initial version was removed in January this year to be replaced by the release of this, the expanded version containing three times the amount of cases. This all being said, how is Detective Pikachu?
So far, 2017 has been a phenomenal year for Nintendo but most importantly the Switch. We have seen both new titles gracing the new hybrid and a few fantastic Wii U titles being brought over to the Switch. Needless to say, given the arguable lack of success of Nintendo’s asymmetric gameplay console, giving some of the games of the Wii U another shot at gaining the audience they deserved is a fantastic idea. The latest example of this to come out of the Big N is Pokkén Tournament, which is receiving a DX (I assume short for Deluxe) version, Nintendo’s Pokémon fighting game. But how is the Switch update for the fighter?
